New Ibiza Courthouse competition

In association with Plasencia Arquitectura

This design for the new Ibiza courthouse acknowledges the importance of its location and responds to the various constraints of the surrounding urban fabric. The typological model in this case is a Ushaped building in order to complete the existing city block and give added meaning to the prevailing construction model in the Ibiza city expansion zone. A volumetric succession of heights is proposed, interwoven with the neighbouring buildings. An inner courtyard adds character to the entrance hall while at the same time acting as a thermal catalyst and a garden.

The main entrance is on a square, a value-added feature which also connects it to the main roads and public transport. Maximum clarity is sought in the distribution of each area of the programme and the layout of the circulations around the central meeting and distribution space.
